iPhoto 09 GPS Feature for all digital camaras!

iPhoto '09 supports displaying and processing of GPS (Global Positioning System) information, provided that the position data is included in the meta data of each photograph. However only few cameras include such data when you take a snapshot, leaving an important gap before the GPS feature can become useful.
PhotoTrackr is an economical extension that works with every digital camera (yes!). It only requires setting the correct local time in the digital camera and activating PhotoTrackr before taking pictures. When you download your pictures to your computer the PhotoTrackr software takes care of synchronising Pictures and GPS position information, using the time stamp to match things up.
With the included carabiner PhotoTrackr will attach to your camera case, your jacket or a backpack, as your companion that faithfully logs wherever you are going.
PhotoTrackr works with a single AA battery, which will last 14 hours in continuous mode. Continuous mode is overkill in most situations (one position is recorded every 10 s), so actual time of use on a single battery charge will typically be several days, depending on how you use PhotoTrackr. In fact, PhotoTrackr will only record positions when it notices movement, avoiding battery consumption when you stay in one place.

The PhotoTrackr software allows you to synchronize Image and Position data by comparing their time stamps. This is accomplished in three easy steps: Load images, read out PhotoTrackr, and merge the GPS data into the meta data of the JPG files.
The software also allows you to configure the PhotoTrackr settings.
